Before starting Redmond Communications, I worked in senior leadership roles within federal and state government.
A brief bio:
As head of media and communication for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse from 2013-2016 I established the media and communication team from the ground up – creating the website, social media channels and corporate identity – and designed innovative strategies to promote community confidence and participation in the Royal Commission. I created the Safer future for children brand, rolled out across advertising campaigns and community engagement programs nationwide, and designed targeted communications for Aboriginal communities, people with disability, prisoners and children and young people.
Redmond Communications continues to work closely with the Royal Commission providing strategic communications and media services.
Before this I worked on the Australian Government’s Cybersmart program, delivered nationally through schools. I managed Cybersmart’s social media strategy, brand awareness and market research, and wrote and edited blogs, outreach presentations, and print and online materials for teachers, parents, children and young people.
I spent five years managing community education, corporate communications and media for the Department of Family and Community Services child protection division during a time of intense media exposure and sector-wide change. During this time I created the successful Fostering NSW brand and carer recruitment strategy that was launched in 2009 as an innovative partnership with the non-government sector. From 2011 I managed a 24/7 on-call media team providing crisis response to child protection matters as well as proactive strategies to promote child safety.
As Communications Manager for the Office for Science and Medical Research, I helped position New South Wales’ capabilities in biotech, STEM education and medical research through high profile events such as the Science EXPOsed education event for high schools, awards programs for early career scientists and the Re:Connections international research conference at the Sydney Convention Centre.
Throughout my career I have worked closely with Aboriginal communities and organisations. I began my career working with the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, before joining the NSW Reconciliation Council, then the Department of Aboriginal Affairs.
In subsequent roles I have been closely involved in strategies to engage Aboriginal audiences and have produced work for communities in the Kimberley, Top End, and APY Lands; for inmates in prisons, and campaigns rolled out across Indigenous media nationally. I have a strong commitment to working with organisations who wish to engage positively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander audiences .
I have an MA in Organisational Communication, a Graduate Diploma in media production and a BA in Social Science.
